SOMERSET, PA – DeVilbiss Healthcare announced today that its iGo Portable Oxygen System has received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration for use in-flight aboard aircraft.
“The iGo Portable Oxygen System is a great solution for patients who require round the clock oxygen therapy – and now users of the iGo can even use the system while traveling via airplane,” said Jim Clement, Director of Global Oxygen Products for DeVilbiss Healthcare. “This is an important step for us, and we are very excited about the approval.”
The iGo is the latest addition to an elite few portable oxygen concentrators on the market to offer two modes of operation – continuous flow and pulse modes. The iGo can operate in continuous flow mode from 1 to 3 lpm or in settings 1 to 6 utilizing DeVilbiss PulseDose® oxygen delivery technology. DeVilbiss PulseDose technology has been proven to be very effective at maintaining oxygen saturation levels in patients, even at high breath rates. Because of the rate responsiveness of PulseDose, it is often considered a gold standard of oxygen conserving technology and has been in the market for over a decade.
In addition, the iGo boasts built-in DeVilbiss OSD® (oxygen sensing device) to ensure accurate oxygen delivery and a reduced periodic maintenance schedule. In addition, iGo accommodates the use of 35-foot tubing while in PulseDose® mode and 50 foot tubing while in continuous flow mode.
Weighing less than 20 pounds, making it one of the smallest POCs offering both pulse and continuous flow modes, the iGo Portable Oxygen System operates within an optional rolling carry case, featuring easy-access openings for cannula and the external power supply. Making it even more convenient, the iGo operates from three different power sources – Any AC Power Source (100V-240V), DC Power or Rechargeable Battery.
“The iGo utilizes a battery that can last over 5 hours, operating at setting 1 in PulseDose mode,” said Clement. “This is one of the longest-lasting batteries of any portable oxygen concentrator on the market.”
In order to ensure ease of use, the iGo features a simple to set and use interface that features only 4 buttons. In addition, the iGo provides for single-touch toggle from PulseDose mode to Continuous Flow mode. All status and visible alerts are easy to view. iGo alerts include Power Failure, Low Battery, Low Oxygen Output, High Flow/Low Flow, No Breath Detected in PulseDose Mode, High Temperature and more. All alerts are capacitor powered and do not require an alkaline battery.
The DeVilbiss iGo is backed by a 3-year warranty, and the battery features a 1-year warranty.
